Disaster Relief

Since 2004 when a tsunami devastated the island of Sri Lanka, Change the World Relief Organization has provided help during most large and many small natural disasters that have happened around the world. Natural disaster is no respecter of persons and it most often hits when least expected. It strikes the wealthy and the poor at the same time and they all need the same thing...help. When disaster comes, those affected should not have to wait for help to arrive. Change the World Relief Organization has pulled together a network of disaster relief partners around the world. We work with and through our trusted sources to supply food, cleanup, materials, labor, and logistics during a time when people need it the most. Through the aftermath of hurricanes to tsunamis, tornados to earthquakes, Change the World is there making a difference.

3 PHASES OF DISASTER RELIEF

Disaster Response

Disaster Response involves getting assistance on location as soon as possible to help victims survive the moment. Immediately following any disaster, most people need basic supplies such as water, food requiring no preparation, toiletries, etc. We have prepared boxes packed in advance that can be loaded and shipped at a moment’s notice. If a major storm is in the forecast for an area, we will already have the packages shipped and staged in a safe location, ready for entry as soon as conditions are safe.

Disaster Relief distributes these care packages to victims in order to help them continue moving forward. Care packages will vary depending on the recipient. For a child, it might contain a toy or some candy. For a household, there may be flashlights, hammers and gloves. Our personal care packages contain items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, OTC pain relievers, (Aspirin, Tylenol, etc…) and a bar of soap.

Disaster Recovery

During the Disaster Recovery phase, we are focused on aiding with the area clean-up. We are able to send crews in to help reconstruct and rebuild. Crews of volunteers sent into the area could consist of individuals with chain saws, clean-up equipment, carpentry tools and/or heavy equipment experience. Every effort will be made to help see the victim get back on his feet.
